Massage Elements
Here you will find descriptions of the different styles and tools I blend during my sessions to accomodate your needs...
Tui Na
A Chinese Medical massage that utilizes acupressure, range of motion, and different hand techniques to address energy, blood and lymph flow in the skin, fascia, muscle and bone levels of the body. Comfortable fitting clothing is suggested to experience the deep, active movement and stretches during this massage style.
Deep Tissue
This style of massage addresses the deeper musculature and tendinous fibers in the body. Positions may be held in order to promote the release of tension in the tissues. The level of pressure in this style is applied to the moment right before the muscles start to tense, which may cause slight discomfort, but a great release.
NeuroMuscular Reeducation (NMR)
This style asks for more participation from the client. Muscles are stripped with the knuckles, elbow or forearm either parallel or perpendicular to the muscle fibers as the client actively engages the muscle group. This helps to deeply remove adhesions as well as re train the pressure tolerance of a muscle. This is suggested for very active individuals that may have a build up of metabolic waste products or well developed musculature due to high exertion placed on their muscles.
Acupressure
Assessment of your Qi (energy) system and the points along its pathways is the focus of this technique. The pathways and points are either invigorated or dampened to promote a harmonious, balanced flow in the area or the entire system. Points may be held at varying pressures while movement or stillness is used to work on this energetic level of the body.
Swedish
A western standard, this massage focuses on short and long continuous strokes, flowing kneading movements and rhythmic tapotement to soothe minor to moderate stress and tension from everyday life.
Reiki/Qigong/Crystal
These styles are only done during In Home services. I apply the tools and techniques that work directly on multiple aspects of the energetic bodies that encompasses the human being. An in-depth assessment of such systems as your chakra, meridian, astral, mental, or other subtle bodies is done to improve their communication and circulation to your physical body. These styles are for those that are knowledgeable and appreciative of this level of work.
Dry Brushing
An eco friendly body brush is used to soothe nervous system, stimulate circulation to the skin, clear away dead skin cells, and ease tension in the skin layer of the individual. A personal brush is provided for each individual.
Cupping
Traditionally done with glass cups and a flame to produce a vacuum inside the cup, then placed on the target area for treatment. I used BPA free plastic cups that uses a suction pump to create an adjustable, more desirable vacuum level. This allows for more versatile techniques such as flash cupping, sliding cupping or stationary cupping with different vacuum levels. Cups are checked every 5 min until treatment of targeted area is completed. This allows for extended treatment in focus areas while other bodily locations are being massage. This leads to a more efficient, effective, longer lasting treatment for each individual.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a scrapping technique done with a jade tool to break up build up of adhesions, condition vessels, and promote smoother circulation of blood, lymph, and energy. This is done towards the center of the body and away from the spine and joints. Depending on the client, this technique is complete when the treated area skin turns light pink or a dark red.
